Gregory F. Balash co-founded Hyridge Energy Partners, LLC in 2019. He oversees Hyridge’s firm management, investment evaluation and strategy. Greg formerly served in an A&D and Reservoir Engineering role for Travis Peak Resources, a private equity sponsored exploration and production company with assets in the Mid-continent and Appalachia. Prior to that, Mr. Balash was an Associate Director at Scotiabank in Houston. During his time at Scotiabank, he provided a variety of strategic advisory services to public and private companies with operations in the Lower 48. Greg started his career with Anadarko Petroleum in Denver, followed by positions with Encana and Newfield, in technical and business development roles of increasing responsibility.

Mr. Balash earned a BS in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University.


Matthew F. Hood co-founded Hyridge Energy Partners, LLC in 2019. In addition to firm management, he leads all opportunity generation, acquisition, land and legal efforts at Hyridge. Prior to co-founding Hyridge, Matt served as Vice President of Land for Travis Peak Resources, where he was responsible for all land, business development and regulatory functions. While at Travis Peak, Matt led the leasing and acquisition of two assets, the first in Appalachia and second in the Mid-continent, totaling 90,000 net acres. Previously, at Cimarex Energy Co., Mr. Hood directed leasing, acquisition and development efforts in the Cana Woodford and Delaware Basin. Matt started his career at BP and then Chesapeake where he oversaw active leasing and development programs in multiple unconventional resource plays in the Anadarko and Arkoma Basins.

Mr. Hood holds a BA in Government from the University of Texas at Austin and a BBA Finance and Energy Management from University of Oklahoma.
